A shabby little chest of drawers

I have borrowed... kind of stolen (LOL) this little chest of drawers from my mother. I saw in a box where she's got 1/24 scale furniture and I couldn't resist it. I have painted it in white with some blue shades. All drawers have been upholstered with the flowery room paper.

I have already started working on the mini furniture of Ma Maisonnatte. I got this bed on scale 1/24 last year at the Kensington Dollshouse Show in London. I have painted it in blue with white scratches and then added the matching room paper.

I just have to make the mattress and cover it with sheets... :)

I know, I know... I've been quite lazy this year when it came to adding new posts. However it doesn't mean that I stopped doing minis.

This is my newest project: Ma Maisonnette.

I bought it last month at the Arnhem Dollhouse Show.

It is from Petite Properties Ltd.

It is scale 24:1.

Hence it is the first time I work with this scale. But I'm very keen on starting decorating it. I will keep you posted with all the new stuff :)

Last Christmas my mon felt like she needed a little Christmas shopping. Hence she stoped by 31 Rue Cambon and bought me this tiny waistcoat at Chanel... and suddenly I woke up from my lovely dream LOL

My mon knows how much I love and enjoy discovering Chanel's new collection every season. I'm in love with its well-known tweed jackets! And she couldn't resist creating her own model in blue.

I got this beautiful waistcoat as a Christmas present inside its tiny little Chanel's bag! ... but this wasn't all...

hidden somewhere under the sofa there was another package waiting for me to open it.

There it was my 2.55!!! I couldn't believe that my dream came true :) Thanks mon!!!

Shabby Cookie Tins & Dishes

While clean up my dollhouse mess the other day I found these beautiful shabby dishes and cookie tins.

I bought the tins from Paloma (Un taller de Miniaturas) at the Tom Bishop's Dollhouse Fair in Madrid last May.

By that time I had my dollhouse a little "abandoned". I saw the tins and I instantly knew that I had to buy them although I couldn't figure out were I would place them.

A month later in June, I had the opportunity to enjoy the S.I.M.P in Paris and I came across with the dishes and the bowl and I couldn't resist buying them.

I don't remember from whom I bought them, I just vaguely remember that the lady was Italian. :(

So I hope you like my tiny shopping!!!

A new rug project

So... I'm already working on a new rug!!!

I firmly intend to knit all the rugs of Robin Hill. Let's see if I'm capable of...

Well I'm sure I'm capable what I don't know if I won't get tired sometime soon LOL... hope not!

So this is how I'm doing right now. You may not be able to see to much. However I can assure you that the rug is beautiful. I'm knitting it from a kit bought from Janet Granger's online shop.

What makes this kit different from others is that the DMC thread has been changed for wool. The wool gives a more "real" final touch on the rug. However, I'm not really sure if I like it better than DMC thread. It is a little more difficult to knit as not all the threads are the same... we'll see!

The rug is called "Carole" (in jade) and it measures 20x11cm (medium size). I will keep you updated on my progress.

A shabby pinky shelf for the bathroom

In the last couple of weeks I've been working on one of the bathrooms of Robin Hill. I'm almost done with the flooring. As you may slightly see in the pictures, the floor is covered in wood. However, I want to give it a final touch in white-greyish... Hence I'm still figuring out how to work it out. Suggestions are more than welcome!

In the meantime, I have painted and decorated this shelf. I have put on it everything I coud think of!!!! LOL

To be honest, nothing that you couldn't find in my bathroom...

Some towels, perfumes, soap, a mirror & a comb... books!!! Yes, books!!!

I quite like the final look. However, I'm sure I will add something else... I feel like a "je-ne-sais-quoi" is still missing!!! I will keep you posted if there are any changes... promised!

A summery cushion

Last night I was tidying up my dollhouse mess when I suddenly came across this lovely cushion that I bought a month ago at the S.I.M.P in Paris.

It is a needlepoint cushion. You migh not appreciate the little details and stiches. However you should believe when I say that my cushion is a "master piece"!!! I bought from Petit Bonheurs.

Working on the dinning room furniture

This past few days I've been working on the dinning room furniture.

Here you can find some of the pictures I've taken.

I decided to upholster the chairs combining beige checked cloth with a flowery cloth. However, I feel there's something missing... a touch of "je ne sais quoi" yet... We'll see what comes out in the end :)

There's still a lot of work to do!!!

Summer has made my lazyness disappear

It's been quite a while since I last wrote on my blog. I cannot blame anyone but myself. It is not that I had abandoned my dollhouses and miniatures. My excuse is that I was too lazy to take pictures. However I kept working on my new project.

Once the "La Casina de Carolina" was over, I started working on a new dollhouse. It is tudor style on the outside but on the inside is going to be decorated as a typical shabby countryside house. I bought it online almost two years ago but it was not until recent dates that I started working on it.

As I've already told you some a few months back, some of my Christmas presents were needlepoint rugs. This is the first one I made. It is from Peppermint Designs and will fit perfectly well with the dinning room decoration.

It measures 15cm x 22cm.

Stich count: 105 x 155 ... more than 16.000 stiches!!!

and 12 colours.

Unluckily, I'm not a very good photographer and the pictures don't show how beautiful the carpet looks finished :(

I know I've been quite inactive for the last couple of months but work, friends and travels have kept me away from miniatures. In addition, the little time I have dedicated to dollhousing I have concentrated all my efforts in rugs!!! Yes RUGS!!! I got a whole bunch of needlepoint rug sets for Christmas from my mon. I promise I will show you the kits and provide you with the name of the online shops where she bought them in one of my next posts.

In the meantime I wanted to show you some little details I've been adding to the bedroom.

Carolina's Little House is almost finished but I can't stop adding stuff LOL. It's good that I already have in mind some other projects, so thing that I buy or make won't neccesarily have to fit in this house ツ

Hanging from the table there is a beautiful laundry bag. My mon had made one for her La Martina house some while ago and I couldn't resist not to have one too foy mine. So there it is... hanging from the table, so everyone can see how wonderful it is!

The charming little bunny and duck were sent to me as a Christmas Swap gift by Mirel from Minimami. They are so tiny!!!! She also sent me some other tiny gifts that I will start showing you now that I'm back.

It's good to be back!!! ツ

An Trumeau for the little house

During the Christmas holidays, after finishing the never-ending petit point carpet, I made this trumeau for the little house.

Usually trumeaux are painted in whites and golds but I wanted to give to mine a coloured look to match with the living room's style.

As you can see in this pictures, it matches perfectly well with the whole decoration :)

Just a few more things, some petit point work ... and I'll be done with the living room.

Stairs

The little house is almost finished. One of the last things I had done is to place a carpet on the stairs.

I'm aware that the carpet it might no be seen very well once the stairs are placed. However, I'd like every detail possible in the house.

So this is how I did it. I'm using a printed carpet that I found on the web. You can find many tutorials on how to start printing on cloth. You find different techniques: using transfer paper or printing it directly on the cloth are the most used.

As you may have realised by now, I had to print the carpet 4 times as it was not long enogh for the stairs. I glued it with Alkyl which is specially designed to glue cloth.

And here is the final result!!!

My mon's X-mas gift

You might have wonder what were I up to these past Christmas holidays... Here's the answer:

Yes, I spent most of my holidays doing this carpet. I wanted to have it finished for 6th January, day on which we received the X-mas presents. It was meant to be one of my mon's presents.

I thought I wasn't going to be able to make it!!!!

It is inspired in one of Janet Granger's designs. You may find it on her needlework book: Miniature Needlepoint Carpets.

It's an Aubusson style carpet. It has a size of 25,5 x 15cm (10 x 6in) and it has more than 20.000 stiches!!!!

In the end, I finished it and she loved it!!!

I bought this magnificent bookshelf quite some time ago in the miniatures' show at Arnhem from Eurosia.

She's a very talented Italian artisan. I love everything she produces and everytime I stop by one of her stands at this show or the other I can't resist myself and I always end up by buying something.

When I bought this bookshelf I didn't even know what I was going to do with it or where I would be placing it. The only thing I knew was that I loved it. I took me quite a while to figure out where to place it... I'll show some pictures very soon.

However, in the mean time I just wanted to show you the result of the decoration... a beautiful geranium on the top shelf, and some mini packages, magazines, papers and letters... I hope you like it!!! :)

Working in the roof

Back from 10 holiday days in Mexico visiting friends, I'm already working on the roof of the La Casina de Carolina. I'm determine to give the final touches to the little house these Christmas holidays. I've got some other projects in mind and I'm reaaally getting impatient hehehe

Glueing tiles can be quite a long and boring task!!! Clue: I haven't done tile by tile. I've made lines of tiles on cardboard and then shaped them at my convenience before glueing them.

It's a long process but less time consuming than if you have to cut, shape and glue tile by tile.

This is the final result in one of the sides. Now I just have to paint... soon I'll be able to show you the final result of the roof :)

The most yummy mini bread!!!

I've already showed you some of the things I bought at Tom Bishops' Madrid Show, and as promised I will keep posting the rest. I saw this yummy breads made by Paloma from Un Taller de Miniaturas and I couldn't resist buying them, the look so real that I could even eat them.

Tom Bishop Madrid Nov 2010 (I)

10 days ago I had the chance to attend the Tom Bishop's International Dollhouse Show in Madrid.

These are some of the few things I bought at the show.

As the little house is almost finished, I'm already working on a new project. I have decided that one of the bathrooms of my new dollhouse will be in pink, hence I bought some tiny things for it to a very charming Italian lady, Eurosia.

It's not the first time I buy her stuff. I already have some furniture from her that I will post very soon...

My Sewing Boxes

You may be wondering where I was or what I was doing this past month and why I haven't updated the blog...

It's a long story that can be sum up in a few words: my little house has suffered an unexpected accident while remodeling my room. While moving all my furniture back to its place, I manage to break the glass table where the little house was... and voilá...

Hence I've been working to restore everything that was damaged. I hope that very soon I'll be able to show you more pictures of it.

In the mean time, I would love to show you my matching sewing boxes: the mini version and the 1/1 scale.

Both are gifts from my mon.

She even used part of a sheet with my great-grandmother's initials to cover the front face.

Have you noticed that she even used the same cloth for both? LOL

She made the 1/1 scale sewing box for my birthday and I still cannot believe that I got this beautiful handmade sewing box :)

New Changes

My room is a complete chaos right now!!! I'm going under renovation works... my things are all spared over the house. Trying to find something is impossible mission!!! So mini work has to be put aside for a while... at least until everything finds it right place again which I hope want take too long.

In the mean while I wanted to share with you the beautiful chair Nina gave me on the Summer Swap organized by Caterina.

Although Shabby Style is not that of Nina, she made me this beautiful upholstered chair that combines perfectly well with La Casina de Carolina.

Finally the ground floor of La Casina de Carolina is taking shape... and I'm surprised to say that I'm quite please with the result... only a few touches missing :-)

Finally, it's Friday!!!! After a very long week, it's time to enjoy the weekend. I'm planning to attend the 2nd Creativa Show in Valladolid (Spain) which is held this weekend.

I've never been to one of this shows in Spain, just in France. My expectations are very high :) but I hope I'll enjoy it as much as possible. I will try to make lots of pictures to show them to you.

First of all, thank you very much to all of you who have greeted me for my birthday!!!! It feels wonderful being one year old and seeing that many of you had a little spare time to greet me :)

I know I've been quite out of the mini world since I came back from the summer holidays... and I apologise for so but I haven't felt very inspired in the past weeks. Now I'm starting to work again...

And an idea has been going round and round in my head for the past days... I enjoy working on minis so much that both my mon and I have quite a stock on minis. Hence, I'm working on our mini Etsy shop. It is still under construction but as soon as it's ready I will let you know :)

This closet was made by me some while ago. I love it!! But I never found a room where to place it :)

Remember the few places where you could find me if I ever get lost?

Mexico is one of them... for many reasons... It brings me back good old memories: old stories from my grandmother, lots of friends, beautiful landscapes, a rich culture & and history, amazing people, wonderful music and my favourite cuisine (apart from the Spanish...)

Every time I visit Mexico, usually once a year, I start planning my next trip. My Mexican friends already call me Mexican-wannabe, I don't blame them... Once I'm with them, I talked like a Mexican, I behave like a Mexican and eat and drink like a Mexican LOL...

Don't get confused... I'm not Mexican... I'm just a Spaniard, born on 16th September (Mexico's Independence Day), in love with Mexico.

Carolina's Little House is just a reflection of whom I'm: the things I like, the places I've lived, the cultures I love... in a nutshell, it's ME. That's why Our Lady of Guadalupe / la Virgen de Guadalupe or la Guadalupana must had a place in my little home.

It might seem incredible but in almost every Mexican house you will be able to find at least Our Lady of Guadalupe once!!!!

By now you will all be trying to figure out why I'm talking so much about Mexico... It's summer!!! and summer means holidays (thank God)!!! and holidays this year are meant to be spent in Mexico. So I hope you will all excuse me but I will "close this blog for vacation".

I wish you all a very happy summer (North Hemisphere's people) and warm and happy winter to those in the South hemisphere!!!! LOL

Summer Swap

Now that Sans has open her swap gift box and has discovered not only the goodies I was sending her but also that I'm Spaniard... and not American LOL...

Caterina's summer swap was meant to take your partner on your holiday with you. However, when the swap was set up, I didn't know yet neither when I was going to go on holiday nor where I would.

As I've already told you in one of my previous posts, I visited India not long time ago and I fell in love with the people, the colours, the smells, the flowers, the culture...

I know that Sans also loves Indian and everything related to India... you don't have to be very wise to notice that if you just visit her blog... So I thought why not taking her on a imaginary trip that both of us would love to take... and here's the result of our trip!!!

Cushions

Summer has arrived and staying at home is becoming a very difficult task... too many outdoors plans with friends, too much work before the summer holidays and too little time to work on my minis!!!

However, I have found that needlework is a very easy portable hobby!!! ...and that keeps me calm whenever I start feeling stressed, so that's why production is growing day by day LOL

These two cushions (the C and the heart ones) were bought by me to a very nice French lady at the Kensington's Dollshouse Festival in London last May. She has a beautiful web page called Petit Bonheurs which is worthy visiting!!!

When I saw them... I immediately fell in love with them and couldn't resist buying both.

This other one is one of my latests works. Not as perfect as the other two... but I'm improving my style!!! ;)

I've already made some others... however they don't match really well either with these three or the sofa,

so you will have to be patient. I promise I will show you more very soooooon!!!

As I have already told you in my past posts, I haven't decided yet what to do on my summer holidays... I always like to improvise in the last minute... I find it much more exciting. So as my swap gifts to Sans have to be at her place by 14th June and I won't be having holidays until mid-August. I have decided to invite San to come with me to magic & exotic India.

I was visiting India not long ago. It is one of my favourite places in the world: a place of contrasts, of beautiful landscapes, amazing people, colourful, full of life, very noisy. If you ever have the chance of visiting India you would at once fall in love with.

Sans & I will enter India via Mumbai a vibrant noisy city placed in the south west coast of the Indian subcontinent.

We will travel towards the north to the shores of Ganga where will admire the astonishing sunrises and sunsets.

Sans loves Indian palaces, so we cannot miss to visit the Jaipur Maharaja's palace. She might find it inspiring!!!!

And last but not least we won't miss to visit Agra and the Taj Mahal!!!

It is almost finished...

I can never say that a dollhouse is all finished... as I always keep changing things, as you might have already noticed.

However, I 'm very pleased with the result and the shape is taking the ground floor of Carolina's Little House.

I have added a "printed carpet" in white and greens and decorated with little birds and flowers.

It matches very good with the green and white walls :-)

And I have also added some other little details such as the gunshot I had already shown you some posts before. Now it just needs some other little pieces that would really make it look like my studio...

When Caterina told me last week that she was organizing a summer swap, I got really excited!!! Many ideas run into my head!!! maaaany, manyyyy... I knew exactly that I was going to do this and that LOL

Yesterday night Caterina published the partners for the Swap...

My partners are Dangerous Mezzo > Me > and Sans. Ha! Suddenly all my plans collapsed!!! LOL. Sans loves making wonderful Indian dollshouses. She is so perfect with detail and recreation!!! You should all take a look at her blog.

I spent the whole day thinking and rethinking what I should do that she could like and could match with her style... at the beginning it was quite a challenge, as I've never tried to do anything else but either scary or shabby chic/ country things.

Howeeeeever, now ideas are flooding!!!

Dear Sans, I really hope that you like and enjoy what I'm doing. I think that gifts should be done to please those who are awarded with them... So, this time I have learned not to plan with so much time in advance :-)

I had bought this little doll from Muriel (Le Coffre d'Emilie) a while ago but didn't remember that I had it untill the other day while looking for something else (it always happens to me... I never find what I'm looking for but something else)

I really like the small details in the clothes...

I'm quite lazy lately when it comes to updating my blog... it might be the weather's fault, too warm for me!!!... I'd rather be in the North Pole...

The thing is that I've been working in many different projects in the last few weeks... but I intend to finish Carolina's Little House before the summer ends (I'm saying it and not believing it...LOL).

I have change my mind so many times while working on the house that I don't even remember what the first project was...

The thing is that I thought it would be a great idea to make a small studio apart from the living room.

A space where I could write and read peacefully... And this is the result of the project. There are some details missing such as the carpet... but I will be posting new update very soon. I hope you like it.

Doesn't the sofa look cute?

The left side cushion is the one I did two months ago... it cost sweat and tears!!!!! LOL but there it is, I'm so proud of it.

The bag is a reproduction of Louis Vuitton's speedy by José María Gomez Panizo.

And the right side cushion is the one I bought two weeks ago at the Kensington's Dollshouse Festival from a French lady.

I'm a huge fan of Louis Vuitton so when I saw this little Speedy I knew I had to buy it!!!

London was fun!!! We visit the Festival on Saturday and the good thing is that when we arrived there was almost no one queueing!!!!

I would have loved to buy many more things.... but can't complain of the amount things I bought. In this pictures I'm showing you a few things that I brought from the festival. In the picture above, you can see a small house and kitchen from Veronique Lux who was so kind, as always, to give me these lovely books, one of them is Hansel & Gretel!!! (my favourite fairy tale). The teddy measures 1,5cm!!! ... and the beautiful cushion is made of needlework.

How do you like it? It is from Muriel from Le Coffre d'Emilie. Isn't it charming? It will be place in the girl's room in my new project...

Here's the cushion again... You can even see the small needlestiches!!!

I couldn't resist to buy these items for the kitchen.... I love them!!!

ANd last but not least, I bought these porcelain bathroom pieces.

I will start showing you pictures of the places where I'm going to place them very soon.

It is not perfectly well done... but I realised too late...

However I still like it... it is my first carpet. I always felt so lazy when it came to miniature needlepoint, now I don't find it that hard!!!

My new toy

I've always been very fond of hunting. So when I saw this gunshot I had to buy it. I knew I would find the right spot to place it.

It was made by José María Gómez Panizo, a Spanish artisan who does wonders with leather. Most of his works are beautiful suitcases, however from time to time his got items such as this one. I have quite a few of his suitcases so one day I promise to show them to you.

La Chimenea

Después de haber hecho un hueco entre las molduras (moraleja: no hay que precipitarse con la decoración), he conseguido encajar si no pocos esfuerzos la chimenea.

Está hecha con madera y cartón pluma y pintada con blanco carrara acrílico de titan.

Le he añadido dos molduras pintadas en los tonos predominantes de la habitación.

Ahora estoy trabajando en el diseño de un trumeau para colocar en la pared de la chimenea.

... ¡¡¡parece que el salón está empezando a tomar forma al fin!!!

New Reforms

At the very begining I was planning to build an entrance hall and a little gardening room (I was going to build a small vegetable garden attached to the main house) on the main floor.

I thought a had very clear ideas on how I wanted it to be...

However, once I had finished the rest of the house and I started working on the entrance I suddenly changed my mind... no garden, no small gardening room and no entrance hall LOL

As I explained on my previous post, I want to place on the main floor a living room and a small study room. To build the chimney, it is necessary to make some reforms on the wall ... I'm working right now on them and as soon as I have finished I will show them to all of you... Let's keep working on!!!

Sofá tapizado

Una vez terminada la habitación, el cuarto de baño y la cocina me he metido de lleno con la planta baja de la casina. He dividido la planta en dos partes: a un lado, bajo las escaleras tengo pensado hacer un pequeño saloncito y al otro lado un pequeño despachito.

Hoy he pintado el sofá y lo he tapizado con esta tela de flores que combina muy bien con el verde de las paredes.

Para pintar el sofá he utilizado la pintura acrílica color vainila de Titan.

Aunque en la foto de la impresión de que el asiento ya está encajado y pegado en el sofá...

... he de confesar que no es así! Aún estoy dudando si envejecer un poco la madera con cera y betún de judea... todo depende del resto del mobiliario ...

El fin de semana pasado estuve en Biarritz (Francia) y entre las muchas compras que me he traido está esta casita. La encontré en un brocante y me enamoró.

I spent last weekend in Biarritz (France) and between the many things I brought there is this little house. I bought it in an antique shop.

Aunque el uso originario era el de buzón, nada más verla se me ocurrió darle un uso completamente distinto.

It was meant to be a letter-box, however I as soon as I saw it I thought I could give it a completely different use.

I would like to open little gaps on the windows but keeping the window frames (any ideas on how I could cut the little holes as the wood is quite thick)

y tengo que reconstruir el tejado pues no sólo falta alguna teja sino que además el resto están bastante sueltas... ¡Qué ganas!

I will also have to reconstruct the roof as there are some tiles missing and the rest need some repairing works... but I can't wait to start!

Cuando estuve en París con mi madre en la fería de L'Aiguille en fête decidí iniciarme en un nuevo hobby: el patchwork. ¿Y qué mejor incentivo para meterme de lleno en esta nueva afición que el redecorar mi habitación?

Y en ellas estoy... he comenzado por la colcha.

Como podréis ver, de momento no tiene demasiada pinta de colcha jajajaja ¡¡¡tan sólo están recortados cuadrados!!!

Mi habitación está ahora decorada en tonos azules y con telas provenzales de Souleiado. Lleva así ya más de 15 años... Ahora he decidido cambiar el azul por los tonos burdeos, rojos, blancos, arena... eso sí, las telas provenzales siguen siendo una constante.

... And finally the time has come!!! My Swap partners were Caterina & Sonya...

Caterina's packet arrived last week just right the day before I came to Puerto Banús... I was sooooo nervous and excited!!!! It is my first swap gift :-) I had never taken part of a swap before so it was quite a challenge for me...

I've been quite busy for the past month travelling quite a lot and working too much but as Caterina's rules had it that there was only one gift to send I put all the effort in finding the time... to my surprise I got more than one present!!! Dear Caterina that's what I called cheating... LOL ;)

Surprise!!! I got yummy Easter chocolate eggs and two typical Easter Italian desserts: la scarcella & la colomba di pasqua.

Mi Costurero / My Sewing Basket

Estoy en Puerto Banús con un tiempo excelente. Ni demasiado calor ni demasiado frio... sol y ni una nube. Después de las lluvias torrenciales de las últimas semanas, ha llegado la calma y la primavera.

Sin embargo, el lunes el día se torció un poco y cayeron unas cuantas gotas... por lo que aproveche para hacer unos recados con mi madre. Y entre recado y recado entramos en Casa. De vez en cuando suelen tener cosas útiles y divertidas que se pueden convertir hasta en casa de muñecas!!! pero esa parte de la dejo a mi madre que es la que compró con ese objeto...

Yo vi esta caja con divisiones a la que pronto le encontré utilidad: ¡¡¡costurero!!!

Siempre estoy cogiendole a mi madre aguja, hilos, tijeras... Ya es hora de que empiece a tener mi propio costurero.

Así que me puse a trabajar en el y este es el resultado :-)

Ahora sólo me queda llenarlo, ¿mamá me ayudas?

Últimamente he estado dedicada al 100% al punto de cruz...¡¡¡y casi me dejo la vista en hacer este pequeño cojín!!!

Aunque apenas se aprecian las puntadas, os puedo asegurar de que ni con lupa de aumento resulta fácil dar las pequeñas puntadas... pero al final el resultado ha sido mucho mejor del esperado.

Pero no todo iba a ser tan complicado... a veces es necesario alternar lo díficil con tareas más amenas.

Así que decidí que la Casina de Carolina estaba bastante escasa en alfombras... y me puse manos a la obra.

La verdad es que la redonda no ha quedado perfecta pero seguro que cuando la ponga en la habitación apenas se notará.

Hace tiempo, si la memoria no me falla creo que fue en la Feria de Tom Bishop de Madrid de Mayo del año pasado, compré esta bandeja pintada a mano en la que Peter Rabit es el protagonista indiscutible.

Los cuentos de Beatrix Potter siempre han estado entre mis preferidos, no sólo por la maravillosa manera en que Beatrix retrataba la vida en la campiña inglesa a finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX, si no también por las enternecedoras acuarelas con las que adornaba sus cuentos.

En el momento en que compré la bandeja ni siquiera sabía dónde la colocaría ni siquiera había decidido el color de la cocinina... Pero no se puede decir que haya sido una coincidencía el color de la bandeja y de la cocina...

si no más bien una forma friamente calculada de elaborar una estancia que combinase perfectamente con la bandeja. De ahí que la cocina haya adquirido las tonalidades rosas tan poco comunes en esta estancia de la casa.

Las vacaciones de Semana Santa ya se están acercando... ¡¡¡y no puedo esperar a que lleguen!!!

Últimamente he estado bastante parada por falta de tiempo pero a partir del viernes recuperaré el tiempo perdido. De momento os enseño un pequeño adelanto que le he hecho al fregadero.Le he colocado una barrita de madera con una cortinilla haciendo juego con la silla y con las que serán las cortinas que coloqué en la ventana.

En la esquina, justo donde terminan las escaleras he colocado ese pequeño estante con una figura del Niño Jesús realizada en plata. La compré en una tienda de imaginería religiosa cerca de la Puerta del Sol en Madrid.

El cuadro está hecho con un marco realizado en resina, pintado en tonos rosas y el fondo, forrado con piqué amarillo. Le puse cintas rosas y lazos que pudiesen sujetar las postales y recetas.

Y esta es una vista más de como está quedando el resultado final.

Aunque aún queda mucho trabajo por hacer. ¡¡¡Demasiadas ideas y tan poco espacio!!!

Puede parecer que últimamente ande un poco disipada... pero a veces las apariencias engañan!!! Acabo de descubrir un hobby nuevo: el patchwork y me he puesto a redecorar mi habitación... en resumidas cuentas que tengo trabajo variado y muy disperso pero ese es otro tema que ya contaré más adelante a medida que vaya obteniendo unos resultados dignos de enseñar.

Entre tanta dispersión he estado trabajando también en la cocinina de la casina. El fregadero está casi terminado pero quería enseñar la evolución

... ahora sólo me queda ir a la "compra" y rellenarlo!!!

Mi pequeño escritorio

Últimamente he estado un poco vaga... y la verdad es que no he dedicado demasiado tiempo a las miniaturas. Estoy pensando en redecorar mi habitación, y eso me ha tenido bastante absorbida mi atención desde que he llegado de París.

Sin embargo, algo he trabajado...

... y este es el resultado.

Quería llenar el hueco de la escalera pero al ser un rincón un tanto complicado, no me decidía que hacer con él. Hasta que de repente se me vino a la cabeza el convertirlo en un pequeño ricóncito de lectura y escritura.

Así que me he puesto manos a la obra, y el escritorio es el primer paso que he dado para volver a sumergirme en las miniaturas!!!

En estos momentos tengo la Casina patas arriba... si fuese una casa de verdad, sería inhabitable. Espero poder terminar la cocina a lo largo de esta semana y poder enseñaros pronto el resultado.

Llevo más de un mes esperando que llegue el día de hoy... Por fín voy a poder ver y escuchar en directo la obra de Felix Mendelson interpretado por una de las mejores violinistas de todos los tiempos, Anne Sophie Mutter en el Auditorio Nacional de Madrid.
En este video está tocando junto a Von Karanjan y la Orquesta Fliarmónica de Berlín, el primer movimiento del Invierno de Vivaldi.

¿Qué os parecen mis alpargatas nuevas? Son obra de Patrizia Santi.

Aún queda más de un mes para que llegue la primavera... y probablemente, bastante más para que comience a brillar el sol y hacer un poquitín de colorcito.

Pero en el mundo de las miniaturas no es necesario ni que llegue la primavera ni que haga buen tiempo para poder disfrutar de estas maravillosas alpargatas.

Las ví por primera vez en la Feria de Soest (Alemania), hace ahora casi un año) y me enamoré de ellas...

... pero no las compré... Y mi madre aprovechó la situación para, en la Feria de Madrid de Tom Bishop, comprármelas y darme una bonita sorpresa el día de Reyes. De momento, las he colocado en la habitación de la Casina de Carolina... pero ¡¡¡quién sabe si quizás sea ese su lugar definitivo!!!

Después de haber de una gran indecisión y de haber pintado la fachada varias veces y de varios colores... ninguna combinación me convencía del todo, al final probé con tonos grises, rosas y blancos, y la verdad es que el resultado me ha gustado bastante.

Recuerdo la primera vez que pinté la fachada, debido a todos los recovecos que tiene me costó más de un día pintarla y aún así... quedó horrible!!!

Aprovechando los relieves de la fachada, pegué unas molduras pintadas en blanco carrara y envejecidas con betún de judea, para darle un poco más de gracia a la fachada.

El resultado ha sido el que podeís ver en las fotos, aunque la calidad no sea demasiado buena y no haga justicia a los colores.

La puerta, en un principio, la había teñido con nogalina pero quedaba demasiado oscura. Así que en una de las multiples capas de pintura que le dí a la fachada, me gustó el efecto viejo que le quedó a la puerta y decidí trabajar en él. Ahora sólo me queda ponerle los tiradores.

En estos momentos, estoy trabajando en las tejas para cubrir el tejado y en los muros laterales de la casina... pero ya os iré contando los progresos en otros posts!!!

I'm leaving for Paris tomorrow with my mother and my little sister Cayetana. We'll be spending the next for days in one of the most amazing vibrant cities in the world. I lived in Paris some years back and now every time I visite it I still feel the same excitement when I walk down le Jardin de Luxembourg, le Quartier Latin, Saint German de Pres or le Marais.

We've got many plans for the weekend despite the cold and bad weather... Le Musée de la Poupée, Pain d'epice, Dentelles et Ribambelles... We'll have a pain au chocolat everyday... I wont miss le Musée du Louvre (one of my favourites every time I'm in Paris) and its wonderful shopping center just right down le Pyramid and I'm sure I'll walk and walk until I am completely exhausted.

In the meanwhile, Valentine's Day is approaching... so that's why I wanted to celebrate it with all of you posting these beautiful postcards I found on the web. I hope you enjoy them and have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Mi blog nació hace poco más de dos meses y para mi sorpresa ya tengo 32 seguidores... la verdad es que nunca pensé que mis hobbies pudiesen interesar a gente tan diversa y de tantos lugares del mundo, a menudo me sorprendo con las visitas de gente que vive en lugares tan variopintos como Ruanda, Kenia, Arabia, Australia, Canadá, Holanda,... y todos con un interés común, las miniaturas. Retoques en el baño/ New details in the bathroom

Nunca se termina de rematar una habitación, cuando crees que ya está siempre descubres que la puedes mejorar. El otro día, mientras trabajaba en la cocina, sentí que el cuarto de baño que anteriormente daba por terminado, aún le faltaban detalles, así que me puse manos a la obra...

En la repisa que está encima de la bañera decidí poner una de las preciosas casas de pájaros que hace mi madre, curiosamente, había en su stock esta azul que iba a la perfección con los colores de fondo. Aún así, sigo sientiendo que falta algo más ... pero aún no he decidido qué.

Una de mis mayores pasiones es la lectura y unos de mis cuentos favoritos es el de Peter Rabit de Beatrix Potter. Creo que las casas de muñecas reflejan el caracter y la forma de ser de las personas que las hacen. En mis casas si os fijais, hay libros por todas partes ... ¡hasta en el baño!

Las paredes las veía muy vacias ... ¿qué mejor manera de darles un poco de vida que colgando cuadros?

Y como no podían faltar... dos cuadros de cuentos de Beatrix Potter.

Como podeis observar, los trabajos de estos últimos días están empezando a dar sus frutos.

La panera está lista... ahora sólo me queda llenarla de pan... pero tendrá que esperar jajajaja

Aún quedan muchas cosas por hacer y huquinos que rellenar.

La despensa ya está prácticamente llena...

En estos momentos estoy en proceso de diseño del mueble - fregadero, aunque tengo muy claro el resultado final que quiero obtener me está dando algún que otro pequeño quebradero de cabeza. Pero a pesar de ello os iré poniendo la evolución del mueble para que podais comparar y darme vuestra opinión.

Las obras continuan a marchas forzadas. ¿Qué es una casa sin cocina? ... podría ser mi casa perfectamente jajajaja

El reloj que he colocado en la campana es un regalo de Navidad que me hizo mi madre :-)

Por supuesto, todavía quedan muchos remates por hacer en esta parte de la cocina y un montón de cosas que colocar... pero cada día estoy más satisfecha del resultado que está empezando a tener.

Aunque ya han pasado 20 días desde el día de Reyes, ¡¡¡aún sigo entusiasmada con los regalos que este año me ha traido Melchor!!! La verdad es que disfruto de este día casi más que cuando era pequeñina y es mi día preferido del año.

Aunque he tenido muchos "mini regalos", voy a empezar por esta muñeca de Almudena González y el cuento de Caroline. Mi madre sabe que a pesar de que no me gustan los personajes y que aunque en la Casina de Chocolate están tanto Hansel y Gretel como la bruja (sin ellos no podría ser la casina del cuento...), prefiero decorar mis casas de muñecas sin aportar ningún tipo de personaje. Sin embargo, ello no quita que las muñecas de los personajes tengan un espacio destacado... ya que me fascinan :-)

Esta afición por las muñecas ha hecho que aunque ya fuese la orgullosa propietaria de otras tres muñecas de Almudena, esta cuarta me hiciese tanta ilusión como las otras tres que en su dia me regalo mi abuela.

¿No creis que queda fantástica colocada en esa silla junto al cuento?

Siempre me ha gustado mucho leer. Es una afición como tantas muchas otras, incluidas las casitas de muñecas y la música clásica que mi madre ha fomentado desde que mis hermanos y yo eramos pequeños.

La verdad es que nunca he prestado ni la más mínima atención a lo que se "cuece" en una cocina... No soy buena cocinera, no tanto por torpeza si no más bien por falta de interés y pereza!!! Y que mejor manera para prestar atención a algo que te aburre que decorarlo de una forma acogedora y apetecible para que te atraiga de tal forma y manera que te haga querer estar en esta estancia todo el día... y quizás de tanto estar en ella, algún día llegar a ser una buena cocinera...

Pues si, así me pasó con la cocina... le tenía un miedo espantoso y no tenía muy claro la idea que quería desarrollar. Sin embargo, de repente lo vi todo claro. Ahora sólo me queda llevar a cabo el torrente de ideas que me vienen cada dos por tres... ¡¡¡demasiadas para tan poco espacio!!!

El suelo lo realicé con cartulina. Corté cuadradinos de 1cm x 1cm pintados en rosa y blanco vainilla y los fui colocando sobre una hoja de papel milimetrado con la forma de del suelo de la cocina en base a una plantilla que previamente había realizado. Una vez terminé de pegar los azulejos, le di al suelo una capa de barniz mate al agua para así crear una capa protectora.

Los mismos azulejos del suelo he decidido utilizarlos para crear una especie de mosaico en la pared de la cocina, a la que en la parte superior le he añadido un estante.

La cocina pretende imitar a aquellas de carbón que existían en casa de nuestras abuelas.
